I've always loved the story of Robin Hood. To me, it was the perfect combination of romance and rebellion. Robin has been depicted in so many ways on television and on the big screen. My favorite was Michael Praed from Robin of Sherwood. Who is yours?

Except for Alan Rickman's portrayal of the Sheriff of Nottingham, I never considered Costner's Robin Hood a true depiction of the legendary man. The character of the Saracen, Morgan Freeman portrayed was ripped off from Michael Praed's 'Robin Hood.' In Michael's, the cast & crew loved the actor who portrayed Nasir, the Saracen in the first episode, so much that RH creator/writer Richard Carpenter wrote him into the series as a regular cast member. He was only supposed to be in Episode 1 under the spell of the magician, actor Richard O'Brien. Read this article. A Saracen is not in the Robin Hood legend. ROBIN HOOD, PRINCE OF THIEVES should have been sued. http://robinofsherwood.wikia.com/wiki/Nasir Once Costner heard that Mr. Carpenter was going to sue them, he quickly changed the name Nasir to Qazeem. Still, not only is it a ripoff but also false depiction. A Robin Hood with an American accent? I saw it to see Alan Rickman, NOT Costner. When I saw Mr. Freeman, I may have walked but still Rickman's Sheriff shall live on into infamy. He stole the film! :-) Cheers ¬ Janet

Erroll Flynn was the best Robin Hood of All Time.

Please poll for the Sheriff of Nottingham since he is an integral part of the Robin Hood legend. Without him, we'd not know of Robin Hood. The first was Nickolas Grace in 'Robin of Sherwood'; however, Alan Rickman stole the film in PRINCE OF THIEVES. He was awarded an Oscar, Best Supporting Actor & BAFTA, Best Lead, I think. Then there is the immortal Basil Rathbone whose swordplay with Errol Flynn will never be outmatched.
