I stared into the corner where he appeared, trying to recall every detail. The more I tried to remember, the more questions I had. What was it that woke me last night? Was it the intensity of his gaze? Who and what was he to show up in my room like that? Was he really some restless spirit we called back from hell or was he just a figment of my imagination?
Welcome to my Six Sentence Sunday! This is a snippet from my paranormal romance novel Spiritus. Becca has just woke and is remembering the strange visitor to her room.

Anytime that I'm working on a new novel, I ger really behind in my reading. Right now, I'm in the process of editing Haunted (Book#2 in the Spiritus Series) and I've had no time to read! Well, the stress finally got to me and after a killer headache and eye twitch, I took a little break and looked at all of those great books on my kindle that I haven't read read. The first book to catch my eye (the one not twitching) was Shattered by Sophia Sharp. I've only read a few paragraphs and already I'm hooked! Here's the description from Amazon: Laura Cubus was perfectly content with her life. A junior in high school, she felt perfectly normal. She had good friends, a great family, and did well in school. Nothing particularly exciting ever happened where she lived, and everything was stable. But that all drastically changes when a new student arrives at Laura's school. Wild rumours swirl about his past, and Laura becomes determined to find out the truth. As she gets to know the mysterious student, he shares with her an ancient secret... one that may yet put both of them in grave danger. And for the first time in her life, Laura is exposed to a completely unfamiliar world. She is swept away on an exhilarating journey that takes to a place where great destiny may yet await... and where supernatural powers run rampant. You can buy it for you kindle here. This is the first book in the Dream Realms series and I can already tell that I just found a new series to love! My Six Sentence Sunday comes from my paranormal romance novel Spiritus. This is a continuation from last week. Becca has just woken up in her room with the feeling that she is not alone.
I sat up in bed and listened. Someone was very close in the dark room, close enough to set off my intuition, but far enough away to be able to hide in the shadows. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted movement. I froze, moving only my eyes to see a man standing in the dark corner across from the bed. He was young, in his early twenties, just standing there staring at me. His blue eyes were almost glowing in the dim light. I am so excited for this week's Six Sentence Sunday! This part comes just after Becca and her friends have held a seance in her house. She has just gone to bed. I lay in bed, looking around my room. I wondered again how long it would be before this room really felt like mine. The only thing that was familiar was the scent of vanilla bean left over from the candles. It was well after midnight when I awoke. Someone was in the room with me. I didn’t know what it was at first that tipped me off, but I was certain that I was not alone. It's happening everywhere you look. Twilight Breaking Dawn mania has taken hold again. I'm just a big kid at heart because I'm right there anxiously awaiting the Part 1 DVD release, but until then, why not have a little fun? Around my house, the only thing that was looked forward to more? The Hillywood Breaking Dawn Parody. While I did miss the original Edward (Jacob Jost), but again, these girl did an amazing job. So, hopefully this will put everyone in the mood for the Breaking Dawn Part 1 DVD release! Spiritus is still going strong after all this time! It is available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Here is a little snippet from where the main character, Becca, is exploring her new home and has just discovered a strange stain on the floor of the library. What would cause that? I reached out to touch the peculiar stain. As my finger touched the slick surface of the wood, a vibrating electric shock traveled up my hand and into my arm. My eyes instantly began to water and my ears rang. I pulled my hand back and clutched it to me. I was too shocked to even cry out. What was that? Be sure to check out other authors participating in Six Sentance Sunday! So, anyone that read my any of my Twitter or Facebook posts Thursay knew that I was having a really bad writing day. I decided that part of the problem was that I was trying too hard. I took a break and looked through all the books on my Kindle that I buy and never have time to read. Okay, so i'm a little late on this one, but here it is, my take on My Blood Approves by Amanda Hocking. I went into this book thinking that it would be a Twilight rip-off (because that's what a few reviews had said), but it is so not! That would be like me saying that Lassie was a White Fang rip-off. Hocking creates believable characters in Alice and her brother. Jack was great, but if ever there was a vampire with attention deficit, it would be him. Peter was the perfect mix of sexy and mysterious. Now for the story. Alice meets a vampire named Jack that feels an instant attraction to her. He takes her out, introduces her to his family, you know, all the things that a young vampire does. Then things get complicated! **Spoiler Alert** So, it turns out that while Jack feels an attraction to Alice like he's falling love with her, his older "brother" Peter has a soul mate type connection to her. Peter wants nothing to do with her, but is compelled to be near her. Poor Jack has to step aside because Alice is "meant for" Peter. The entire time, I'm cheering for Jack, but then throw in a few hot scenes with Peter and I'm cheering for him. It almost makes me wish for writer's block again so that I can read the others. I highly suggest this book to anyone that loves a good vampire story. It is a definite "must have"! |
